NCEP temperature/height extraction tools are now available on the LaRC NDACC DHF

Progress continues on the migration of the NDACC DHF from its original home at NOAA's Climate Prediction Center (CPC) to its new home at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). New this month is the availability of the NCEP temperature and height extraction tool on the public LaRC NDACC DHF (https://www-air.larc.nasa.gov/missions/ndacc/data.html?NCEP=ncep-list).

The NCEP temperature/height data is available as daily files containing the relevant data for all NDACC sites. Some users prefer data at a single station for a range of dates in one file. The tool uses input station name and start/stop dates to generate the desired file.

For those who would like to automate the process (e.g., using cURL), the tool can be accessed directly to return a JSON containing the results file. For example: https://www-air.larc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/ndacc-bin/getNcepProfile?"19950101/19960101/Boulder" will return the url for a file with data for Boulder from January 1, 1995 to January 1, 1996.

More tools will be coming soon.
