Ozone | RIVM, NIWA | AmesHDF | Metadata Summary
x
R. Querel (NIWA) — Installed November 1994 by RIVM (former PI Daan Swart). Participated in OPAL and TOPAL intercomparison campaigns with GSFC mobile lidar, LaRC microwave ozone radiometer, and ozonesondes in 1995 and 2002, respectively. New laser installed and retrieval software updated in 2007; all data reprocessed. Retrieving ozone from 8 to 50 km year-round (attempting to get one measurement per week). Also retrieves aerosols (8 to 25 km) and temperature (8 to 70 km) profiles, though neither is submitted to the NDACC database. Ownership and PI responsibilities transferred from RIVM to NIWA as of July 2017. |

Aerosol, Ozone, Temperature, Water Vapor | GSFC, SSAI | Ames *.mgl | Metadata Summary
x
J. T. Sullivan (GSFC), L. Twigg (SSAI), and G. Sumnicht (SSAI) — The STROZ lidar retrieves ozone vertical profiles in the stratosphere from 10 to 50 km. Temperature to ~80 km and aerosols (at 355 nm) to 35 km also are measured. The instrument has also been modified to measure water vapor from near the ground to ~15 km. As a mobile intercomparator, it has participated in ozone intercomparisons at Lauder October–December 1992, March–October 1994, April 1995, September–December 2001, April 2002, June–July 2011, and April 2012. Data through 2012 is archived in the name of the previous PI – McGee. |

UV | NIWA | Ames | Metadata Summary
x
A. Geddes, J. B. Liley, M. Kotkamp (NIWA) — Measurements of the spectral distribution of UV irradiance (285–450 nm) using a double monochromator since December 1989 and archived since 1991. In November 1993, the original UVL spectrometer (JYDH10), which allowed observations only in fair-weather conditions, was replaced by the UVM spectrometer (Bentham DM300). In September 1998, the integrating sphere on this instrument was replaced by a PTFE diffuser to allow all-weather observations, including during rain. There have been occasional periods of spectral sky radiance and spectral actinic flux observations. The latter also may be derived from spectral irradiance measurements. Direct beam spectral UV irradiance measurements have been made since 2011 (with the UV2 spectrometer). A variety of filter radiometers also have been used since 1992. Information regarding specific instruments and deployments are available from the PIs. Data through 2013 archived under former PI, McKenzie. |
