IVa. NDACC Theory and Analysis Working Group

Working Group Website:  http://www.ndacc-theory.org/

The Theory and Analysis Working Group works with members of NDACC experimental measurement teams to provide support that augments their research and data analyses. The Working Group also promotes the widespread use of NDACC data outside the NDACC community and seeks additional members to help foster such use.

The Working Group provides output from model simulations that can be used by instrument working groups to analyze and interpret their measurements.

GMI Model Data Set S. Strahan (NASA GSFC/UMBC retired) – Model output is available from the Global Modeling Initiative (GMI) chemistry and transport model (CTM) integrated with MERRA2 (reanalysis) meteorological fields for the period 1985-2022. The available model output files have daily or hourly vertical profiles of constituents and meteorological fields for individual stations site for the Dobson, FTIR, Lidar, and Sonde working groups. Output from this model is not available beyond 2022. Future support will be available from the Replay Model. Data and documentation are available at the NDACC DHF - GMI
REPLAY Model Data Set S. Strode (NASA GDFC/Morgan State University) & S. Strahan (NASA GSFC/UMBC retired) – Model output is available from the GEOS Replay model that uses the Global Modeling Initiative (GMI) chemical mechanism. Its meteorology is very close to that of the MERRA2 reanalysis. This output is from the Replay ‘MINDS’ simulation and is available for 1996-2020. The model output files have daily or 3-hourly vertical profiles of constituents and meteorological fields for individual stations site for the Dobson, FTIR, Lidar, and Sonde working groups. It is expected that more years will become available in the near future. Data and documentation are available at the NDACC DHF - REPLAY.

Individuals are requested to inform the Working Group Representatives of any published work that uses NDACC data or these model outputs.
